James uses the airbrush in his original paintings, what is airbrushing?
As well as applying paint (watercolor and ink) with a traditional paint brush James also runs this same paint though a airbrush. This technique allows the paint to be sprayed onto the canvas or artboard. This is achieved by loading paint into the airbrush, this is then mixed with compressed air which is controlled by a trigger. By using a mix of masks and freehand airbrushing techniques then realistic results can be achieved. Air brushing is believed to be one of the hardest skills to master in the art world.
