Stage 5 of Bradley Manor painting

Painting now complete 'Bradley Manor' 7802 built by Great Western Railway.

Overall I am very pleased with the atmosphere I have achieved in this painting, helped by the steam. I was however very conscious when painting the steam that I didn't want to go overboard and paint to much and end up losing the detail on the train itself.

Original painting now sold

Stage 4 of Bradley Manor painting

You can see here the background of the painting is nearly complete, which depicts Severn Valley Railway's main engineering shed at Bridgnorth.

Interestingly the engine in the middle of the shed is a working replica of 'Catch Me Who Can' the very first locomotive to be designed specifically for pulling passengers (Built 20 years before George Stephenson's Rocket). The engine to the left of this in the shed is GWR Pannier 7714.

I will now move on to add all the details to the main engine in the painting.

Stage 3 of Bradley Manor painting

Now around the half way point on this painting.

Stage 2 of Bradley Manor painting

Around 35% complete now.

Stage 1 of Bradley Manor painting

Working here very small just 15" x 11" something I plan to do more this year in order to produce more work. Also I am painting here different to how I normally do by working on the whole picture at once instead of concentrating on small areas at a time.

This may look a bit crude at this stage but this is a good base to work from to start to building more layers tightening the painting up as I move forward.
