Stage 4 of Epic railway painting

This was a challenging painting for me to do, the two trains themselves caused me the most problems. Getting the overall feel and light correct was not easy but in the end I feel I achieved the effect I was after.

A special thank you goes to railway photographer Robert Beardwell who gave me the inspiration for this painting. Without his kind permission to use one of his stunning photos as reference then this painting would never have happened.

This painting is now available as a signed limited edition print Click here for a link to my railway art gallery for more details

Original painting now sold.

Stage 3 of Epic railway painting

Here above you can see I have progressed on this painting with the 'Duke of Gloucester 71000' engine nearly complete, you can also see I have started work on the 'Oliver Cromwell 70013'. There is still more work to do on the 'Duke' detail wise but you can see its starting to look more solid. Steam is going to play important part on this painting, you can see I have started to apply a small amount already.

Stage 2 of Epic railway painting

You can see now things really starting to take shape here. The painting will be showing a powerful double header 'Duke of Gloucester' and 'Oliver Cromwell'. I have now completed around 70% of the 'Duke of Gloucester' engine.

Stage 1 of Epic railway painting

Here we have the 1st stage of my new painting which is going to be called 'Epic'.

I feel when complete its going to be something quite special. What your looking at here is just a tiny part of the painting.
